Blog Review : FreeNewTechnology

Writing about the Fair Review Project I had decided to review the first blog that strikes me in my favorite stream : Technology. I came across FreeNewTechnology in the directory and decided to change my decision when I visited the blog. But then, whatever it takes. I should be doing this, so that the blogger JRG1392 comes to know what I as a visitor have to say about his blog. Not having a good blog and not having anyone to point out why it is not good is harsh, for I have felt it at some point when techXtreme has also been as dead as FreeNewTechnology but for lot fewer days than this blog.

The template is a one out of the blogger defaults with no modding at all. The profile hardly lets us know anything about the blogger.

The way Mr.JRG1392 writes about New Technology in this post clears his kind of blogging. Irrelevant or Immature, I don't know how to put it. "Help support my site" is seen 4 times on the blog, like asking donation for a rehabilitation camp. The very first "Help support my site" carries a digg-this-blog button. I need superpowers to understand who is going to Digg this one and what for! The rest of the "Help support my site" are static bidvertiser ads.
Technorati has been also experimented in this post about Fair Review Project.

In entirety, the worst blog I reviewed. At least, I least liked to do it as my 100th post!

Fair Review Project: Growing Blogs Together

Because I am having an injured right hand and hence cannot appear for the sessional exams going on at college, I am back home and quite free with nothing to do at all. So, in all the time I am free and taking full advantage of the unlimited internet access at home, I have started making attempts to grow my blog : techXtreme. In the process of doing so, I came across this site called Fair Review Project with the tagline "growing blogs together".

The concept is simple and interesting. Rather than one blogger getting all the links from your hard work, whilst only giving a link back to the post that mentions them, Fair Review Project gives you a link to your blog, plus the opportunity of being reviewed yourself.

All you have to do to be a part of this project is review a blog within their directory, and then submit a listing request. This project is a brainchild of Rhys Wynne. Soon after posting this, I will get to reviewing a blog already in their directory. I think I will review the very first blog that strikes me in my niche : Technology. Lets see what it is going to be.

Proper Tagging is Important for StumbleUpon Traffic

Submitting a post or a website to StumbleUpon can be a real traffic boost, if done with proper tagging. The Guru did an interesting experiment to understand the role of using proper tags with his wallpaper site. He submitted two pages from the wallpaper site StumbleUpon as a test. They were wallpapers of the same exact person, just different backgrounds, stance, clothing, etc.He submitted the first page with the tag 'photograph', the second with the tag 'technology'.

The wallpaper under the photo section got 2,378 hits on its first day, the other got around 600. Clearly, Stumblers do not like coming across irrelevant content and give it a thumbs down. So you lose valuable traffic that you could have otherwise got if you tagged your stuff right.
